The first ingredient in creating a fly box is the leather. After a long and careful research our friends from Stanescu Leathercraft chose to collaborate with a tannery in Tuscany, Italy, a place with a great tradition in tanning. The leather they use is a vegetable tanned leather, carefully cut, carved, stamped and finally dyed … all by hand and with a remarcable talent and precision.

The most important ingredient in making a leather object with a precious look are though time and wear. This gives patina and uniqueness, pleasant aesthetics and creates a strong bond between the product and its owner.

We are surely one of their fans and do love their products! If you want to find out more about how they work and what products they offer, visit their website! The entire procedure and the making-of is here to read.

We wish them good luck and happy leather-carving ;)
